Dierendonckblancke architecten emerged as a promising young office with its work for the community centre of Avelgem, which opened in 2007. Over the past ten years, they have made real on this promise with a number of convincing designs and buildings. The selection of 14 designs collected in this volume illustrates their architectural vision. The assignments represented here were varied, ranging from social housing to healthcare institutions, from cultural infrastructure to education. Contrary to many other European countries, private houses in Belgium remain instructive assignments in that they make it possible to retain a close connection with the residents.
Published on the occasion of the architect's solo exhibition Dierendonckblancke – Praxis at BOZAR Brussels (5 April - 23 June 2019).
